CNN is reporting that the FDA has released its first tv ad focused on e-cigarette use by youths. The new endeavor is part of the FDA’s “The Real Cost” campaign and feature street magician and social media personality Julius Dein.
The ads will run on television networks that include TeenNick, the CW, MTV and ESPN, in addition to streaming and social media sites.
Scholastic has also partnered with the FDA again to distribute new rounds of posters with e-cigarette prevention messages to be displayed in high school bathrooms.
These moves come as the FDA hopes they can “stem the tide of rising electronic cigarette use among young people.”
