11 Alive reports that the Atlanta City Council is considering legislation today that will ban smoking and vaping entirely at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The legislation wants to “protect the public against exposure to secondhand smoke”, is a very tongue in cheek statement after most other airports in the U.S. banned smoking thirty years ago.
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport alone has six enclosed smoking lounges and two separate smoking areas near gates T-4 and T-13. There are also designated outdoor smoking areas near the curb in both arrivals and departure areas in both the North and South terminals.
Included in the proposal, is the city’s hope to ban smoking at city facilities and specified public places, as well.
