Keloland Media Group reports that Veteran’s Affairs (VA) hospitals in South Dakota are banning tobacco use. This information comes as the Department of Veterans Affairs is increasing the drive for veterans to kick the habit by banning all forms of tobacco use at VA facilities nationwide.
VA hospitals in Black Hills located at Fort Meade and Hot Springs South Dakota have set May 29th as the effective date that tobacco may not be used in any form by patients, visitors, contractors, volunteers or vendors.
The nationwide tobacco free mandate takes effect in October.
Exceptions of tobacco use will be made in Native American ceremonies and traditions.
