ABC News reports that Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky revealed federal legislation to raise the minimum purchase age to purchase tobacco and vaping products to 21 across the U.S. This announcement was anticipated as the information was previously reported by Vapun last month.
The Tobacco-Free Youth Act is a bi-partisan measure led by McConnell and co-sponsored by Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia and backtracks on McConnell’s word delivered last month of a military exemption. It also does not block sates from taking further aggressive steps on tobacco and vaping products.
McConnell said on the Senate floor yesterday that he will make enacting the bill one of his highest priorities.
