KTNV reports that Nevada is considering a 30% wholesale tax on vaping. Senate Bill 263 would also set licensing requirements and fees for dealers.
State Senator Julia Ratti is pushing for this tax on vaping products in an effort to put it in the same category as other tobacco products.
Ratti said, “The goal is to reduce usage by raising the price. I am very clear about that. The intent here is to disrupt the industry.”
If passed, the tax is projected to generate around $8 million in revenue for the state of Nevada.
Nevada’s legislative session ends on June 3rd.
