The Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that three Republicans introduced an eleventh-hour measure on Sunday to raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco products.
Assembly Bill 544 was presented with less than 36 hours left in the current session. The proposal hopes to raise the minimum purchase age of tobacco and vaping products in the state to 21, beginning July 1, 2021. The bill does appear to include a military exclusion for active duty servicemembers.
This new proposal comes days after lawmakers attempt to amen Senate Bill 263, which hopes to add a 30% tax to vaping products.
