AZ Central is reporting that President Donald Trump wrote out a check and donated $100,000 of his own second quarter salary to the office of the Surgeon General. The effort was done to fund an upcoming public health advisory, that White House Officials are declining to speak specifically in regards to the subject, however.
"The President recognizes the important mission of the Surgeon General to protect and improve the health of all Americans, including helping to tackle the opioid epidemic and raise awareness of the dangers of e-cigarette usage among teenagers and children," the White House said in a statement.
This is the third salary donation by the President to the Department of Health and Human Services as part of his pledge not to accept a salary.
