The Detroit News reports that Michigan Governor Whitmer is appealing to both the state Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court to reinstate her desired emergency flavored vaping ban. She argues that a lower court’s ruling halting the ban sets a dangerous precedent.
Whitmer also hopes the Supreme Court will skip the normal appeals process and hear the case instead of the state Court of Appeals, however Michigan’s highest court rarely intervenes before the appeals court has ruled.
Whitmer clearly wants her way. The legal process applies to everyone, including governors. No one person is above the law.
